In good olden days Coromandal use to run faster than present train. 1978 TT as follows.

More traffic, more congestion and more political interference.
I agree with last point. This train intentionally slowed down between RJY-VSKP to reach BBS at 4 hr 35 min. Actually RJY-VSKP non stop given for other train3 hr 8 min. So 1 hr speed up is possible now it self for this train.
4 hrs 8 mins from rjy to vskp should be converted to atleast 3 hrs 15 mins.. it would speed up coro by atleast 45 mins..
Normally trains takes 2 hr 35 min from RJY to VSKP if its non stop. So with 33 min slack they can easily reduce by 1 hrs. But will IR do it or not a big question.
Itni mehnat indian railway se nahi hoga.. it could be easily done if scr allows coro to overtake konark..
