Another fact in that, VS had crossed JHG when SK dep JEP, and Duru was just ahead of SK, and running behind Duru helped SK to cross Ald before its scheduled time, although the overtakes of 14055 and 12303 can be justified to an extent, but 12367 was not necessary and both could have reached on time, as VS then took SKs slot and overtook Puru, Poorva and BP mail too

But VS was on schedule, its Ald crossing time is 2310 h and SK 2320 h, SK crossed Ald at 2301 h, if VS would have not been overtakem then to start and accelerate it would hv taken those 9 mins and same after slowing SK would also hv crossed after VS. And both would have maintained their schedules.

Another fact about off schedule, why overtakes in up direction only, whereas in dn SK gets delayed after Kanpur due to off schedule trains, although it maintains its schedule till Cnb
