Actually, most of the spare parts of WAM-4 class such as ARNO Converter etc are not available now, so maintenance and repair of these WAM-4s are now very difficult. The Production of this class has been stopped since Long Time. So, In Phases now IR should condemn this class and induct more powerful Loco in the Sheds.
Agree with you sir. Now the coach length also increased of many trains, so these old men are proving weaker.
Yes sir, It will be withdrawn gradually. WAP 1's will be there for a while since few WAP 1 were manufactured even in 1990's too. So WAP 1 will hang around for some ten years but it will be given as a link to passenger loco or will be stationed as a rescue loco
Yes. I am an ardent fan of WAP 4 but i felt WAP 7's requirement on a trip in Kovai exp. That day it had WAP 4 link , it was delayed by 20 mins when it started from tiruppur , Though WAP4 struggled hard it could nt make up the delay caused. It landed MAS with 10 min delay , If it was a WAP 7 then it would have easily made up. In fact Kovai's regular link is WAP 7 but that day unfortunately it got WAP4. WAP 7 is a must for aggressive Intercity like Kovai,Vaigai,Lalbagh
21232 was like a special friend for me :) Used to see this loco almost every time I visited MS/MAS over 4 years. And in more than half of my trips in the last 3 years, this was the loco that hauled my 17209/10 between SBC/BZA. This just used to pop-up every time I decided to get into a train! :D
