Indian locomotive class YAM1 is the first, and so far only class of metre gauge (Y), Alternating Current (A), mixed traffic (M) electric locomotive in India. Twenty were built in 1964–66 by a Japanese consortium let by Mitsubushi.

Yes. These were very under-powered too. And sadly they never saw mainline action. Only being used for shunting short freight rakes between MSB and Tambaram and were used only for one suburban service. YCG1 was also unique in that it could be operated for short distances on non-electrified sections when attached to a battery van that also came with the loco.
