This blog entry is all about my two days experience from Ahmedabad to Lucknow via Delhi alone!
My PNR entries: /blog/post/1602678 & /blog/post/1603069
My programme to go to Lucknow was made around 10AM and I booked my tickets at 11AM from Ahmedabad to New Delhi in Rajdhani Express.
I got GNWL9 which afterwards confirmed.
I
...
had to book onward journey ticket as well, so thought I’ll book it at Ahmedabad Railway Station itself.
I reached Ahmedabad Railway Station at about 05:05PM and then went reservation office. At about 05:30PM, my booking was done and just 10mins was left for Rajdhani to leave from PF#10. I ran towards platform and caught the train on time.
My beginning for this journey was very tight scheduled, and had to hurry many a times.
Everything was going normal, now the next day in Delhi.
My plan was something foolish type. I planned to go Aligarh to meet my friend and then to take Gomti Express from ALJN to go LKO.
Rajdhani reached on time at NDLS, then I had to go to Aligarh. As Gomti departs from ALJN at 02:45PM thus, I wanted to reach their before noon.
First I enquired taxis for Aligarh, they demanded Rs. 2,500/- which was not suitable for me.
Then enquired for time taken by bus, so they told me that it takes about 05 long hours. Which was also not suited for me.
Then my next option was to go there by train which takes about 2-3 hours only. Now I had to catch DLI – ALJN EMU which departs from PF#13 from Old Delhi.
Now I took metro to go to DLI from NDLS. I reached DLI at about 08:10AM and took ticket which was only of Rs. 30/-
The train now was at 9AM. This train had rake sharing with GZB – DLI EMU. It came at about 9 and therefore going to leave late.
Now the main story begins.
There was a huge crowd for this train. So I had to work hard to get a seat. :P
As the train arrived, the rush started. I remember I was going to board the fourth last coach of the train. As I boarded the train, I found my mobile phone and money which was kept in the back pocket was missing. -_-
My mobile was in my hand all the time, but to board the train I kept it in my pocket, but my mistake was to keep it in back pocket. I shouldn’t have do that. :(
Then immediately I took one of fellow passenger’s mobile phone and dialled 100 to call the police.
I was not sure that any police officer will come at the site or not, so I started moving towards Railway Police Station. On the way, I found that one police officer was coming towards PF#13, I asked him the way for Police Station, he asked me did you called us? I answered yes. And then went Police station. The train thereafter left DLI and I was now not going Aligarh.
The records said that I dialled 100 at 09:07 AM and last call from my mobile was at 08:38AM with my sister. And we got to know that, my mobile phone was not even tried to unlock, the battery was directly removed. These all shows that it was stolen.
I was all alone, and it was my first journey to travel alone.
Police officers was not giving their phone to inform my family members. :/ So I went PCO to inform them.
Police officers was just wasting time. Now the time was about 11AM, they were doing nothing.
Then I told them that I have my train just after an hour and I am sitting here. Then one police officer asked me to take at the site where I was standing, so I took him there and he saw that no CCTV camera could examine what happened when train arrived. So now nothing could be done and I just filed FIR and moved ahead.
Now the time was about 11:45AM and I had to catch Gomti Express at 12:25PM from NDLS.
Now I had to reach New Delhi.
I rushed towards Chandni Chowk Metro Station where I saw very long queue for tickets. I don’t had much time to stand in the queue and to take ticket.
Then I got an idea to take someone’s travel card by paying the amount they will demand.
I asked one lady to give me her travel card and explained my situation. She gave me without arguing at just Rs. 100 and the card had about 140 in it.
Then as I had travel card with me it just took me 10mins to reach New Delhi Railway Station.
A hearty thanks to that lady who helped me in those moments. :D
Gomti was standing at PF#12, I reached my coach at 12:10PM.
My cousin brother was waiting for me at my seat.
Whole day I didn’t ate anything, then my bro gave me some snacks.
Okh… so till now I lost my phone and lots of money, and my friend would be waiting for me at Aligarh, would have searched me in that EMU. Till now I didn’t contacted them as I don’t have their numbers, the only way left is Facebook!
Gomti left at 01PM and it was diverted in between NDLS to GZB.
The train reached GZB at 02:20PM and then took the main line.
Gomti performed very poor, It was overtaken by 9 trains -_-
And the TTE took Rs. 150 more for NDLS to ALJN.
First overtake was done at Dadri by one Rajdhani.
And then at Firozabad, one SF train overtaken us, I think it would be Bihar Sampark Kranti Express.
Then at Phaphund, 2 trains overtook us, one was Kanpur Shatabdi and another one was Rajdhani.
Then at Jhinjhak, Gomti halted there for 1hrs 15mins, and 5 trains overtook us.
Then it reached Kanpur at about 11PM. The journey was still not completed.
It was made a passenger train from Jhinjhak to four more stations after Kanpur. I don’t know the names of the station, just know two more after Unnao.
It reached Lucknow at 01:15, overall four hours late.
And I didn’t have phone to communicate with the ones who was going to receive me.
The passenger who was sitting beside me gave his phone to call them.
I reached home at 02AM. Overall it took total 33hrs for me to travel from Ahmedabad to Lucknow with a very bad experience.
I will rate Old Delhi Railway Station “poor” in each and every field. -_-
Now my return journey is in Rajdhani Express from LKO to NDLS and then by flight to Ahmedabad.
I don’t want any more adventures :P It is enough for me now! xD

Very unfortunate. In rush at any place you have to save your belongings. Thanks to the Lady who helped you at Chandni chowk Metro,Delhi.
Now this is a lesson for us to beware in journey.
