Goto Irctc website and do the reservation and select the button plan my travel and also type for which place to final destination u want to go (ONLY station name), which date ,which class (AC, Sleeper etc) and What is the quota u want to book
and select the train and made the payment by online and take the printout of the ticket

If you have relevant online banking facility or debit or credit card (eg, SBI ATM- cum- debit card), then you can do it. Open irctc.co.in and register for a account there. Then choose your journey and train just pay through it. When going through it, you'll know yourself what to do next.
And yes, save the ticket page and take printout (no problem with b/w). When boarding the train with the ticket, one of the passengers should keep his/her id like driving license, pan card, voter id or govt. worker's id etc.
