The Northeast Frontier Railway is targeting 100% on-time arrival of trains with a two-pronged strategy – that of intensive footplating together with regular monitoring and controlling failure of assets. Failure of railway equipments like engine-failure, failure of signal & telecommunication equipments, mechanical failure etc. would be targeted for minimization so that there are no delays in train operations.

Manager, Shri Mohd. Jamshed himself conducted engine footplating inspection by train No. 15909 Avadh Assam Express from Furkating to Dimapur in Lumding division on Saturday (14th October 2015). Instructions have been issued to all senior officers to conduct intensive footplating, especially during night, of all passenger trains to ensure their timely running.
The strategy, so far, has shown positive results with punctuality of mail & expresses trains increasing to 95% in the month of October 2015 as against 89% in October 2014. This effectively means that out of the 2278 mail & express trains run within N. F. Railway 2158 had run on time. The overall punctuality of all passenger carrying trains including mail / express and passenger trains has also improved to 94% during the month of October this year, which again effectively means that out of the total 2999 trains run, 2813 trains run on time. Punctuality for Rajdhani Express and Shatabdi Express has also recorded improvement from 87% and 91% respectively in October 2014 to 90% and 93% in October this year.
