an incident which probably made an impact
on my way to akola, by 12879 from ltt mumbai, i was waiitng for the pantry personnel to come across selling the infamous "chai", no sooner than such a uniformed man carrying the steel kettle (or kettle like) approached with chai-chai, i asked hm for a cup of tea, he quickly pulled an ir liveried paper cup(pic attached) and dispensed about half a cup chai and handed to me.
as seen on the cup it has clear inscriptions so as to tea - rs7/ coffee -
...
rs 7 which made me think and i quickly asked that this is for rs 7 then why was he charging 10 (although i had handed rs 10 by then) and also there is an arrow for 150 ml which indicates the volume to be dispensed and then he started arguing that " 7 to cup ka hai" meaning 7 rs is the old charge and now its revised, to which i countered that its nothing like that, the charge is still 7
then he put forth another silly reason that he usually provides biscuit along and hence is charging ten, but it was only today he doesnt have biscuits, to which i said it is again not the case, he is fooling passngrs and taking 3 rs per passengr extra, after a lot of argument he realised that the ball is now in my court and he cannot sustain defence any more and finally asked if have a change for rs 7 i may give that, but i didnot have so i asked him to take the ten and return 3...
After this be proceeded to other passengers and took rs 7 per cup asking for change, even i went ahead and asked co- passengers to be attentive and pay only as per prescribed charges even for further snacks or lunch and ask them for rate card and even bills...
at least the few passengers in my coach agreed and supported me and said they will ensure correct price and only then make payment, hope this impact grows larger and we can curb such corruption right from its roots!

This is the case everywhere on IR. Even while travelling in Goa express, the tea vendor charged me Rs.10. I asked him for the biscuit packet and then, he gave it to me. The passengers should always ask for biscuit packets if they are paying 10 Rs inorder to get the value for money which they are paying.
