I traveled on this train 58501 from VSKP to ARK on 13th December 2015 Sunday. After reaching the station at 6.30am, There was no information with the enquiry office about the schedule of this train. At 7am, the train was allotted platform no. 5. Sorry to hear about your experience but it's look like you got your psychological "period". As far as I'm concerned with my journey in last year June it was awesome. And compare to Shimal, well both are very different. No train climbs 980m in just matter of hours. Well you have trouble with locals, no one can do anything about it. Just book in SL or 1st class and try to sit right of train while going to arku and vice-versa.
Well, dats a matter of fact there were no Sl and FC tickets available while I booked the tickets on IRCTC. Anyways, lesson learnt is that never travel on a Second Sitting compartment ever in life.
Sorry to say, but same kind of problem you can face specially in 2S class on pan india basis during rush time or hrs.
