If a ticket remains WL after chart preparation (4 hrs prior to departure), how much refund does one get as refund for 2AC reservation? How much refund after departure of the train?

Do etickets automatically get refunded if they remain waitlisted after departure of the train? Or one needs to cancel them online?

Finally all tickets were WL. All family went back to their home (150km from NDLS) very disappointed. Surprising a 20 something WL got confirmed seat. Largely getting a train ticket is becoming impossible unless one books 3 months in advance when it may not be possible to plan.
