Better to give customers an option. We can get better options thru ecatering
In my opinion, Railways should adopt flight type food catering and should use similar companies like Taj SATS etc for catering in Trains. If the food is hygienic, of good standards, safe and packed properly, I don't see a reason why any passenger would deny this option. Carrying own food or trying to buy from outside is very cumbersome. The best form is when food is served on seat. Just increase the quality not quantity and we will see the difference. Also due to availability of food freezers and warmers in all Rajdhani and Shatabdis, this shouldn't be a problem at all. In long distance trains the Pantry Car can be converted to just Food Storage (Freezing) and Warming units.
