We had planned to visit Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga and Mahakaleshwar at Ujjain. The itinerary was finalised at visiting Khandwa first and then travelling to Ujjain. Within 4 days we had darshan and returned back.
You have to plan in such a manner so as to reach Khandwa on Wednesday morning as there is a Train from Khandwa to Omkareshwar Road station at 1.00 p.m. After reaching Khandwa in the morning we checked in to Hotel Grand Barrack. This is around 2 km from the station. The room service was excellent and the food is also good and reasonable. Hot water is supplied in buckets separately.

after Lunch we set out for Omkareshwar and reached Omkareshwar Road station at around 3.30 p.m.. We took a bus to the temple which is 15 kms away. We had darshan and were back in time to catch the evening 6.30 p.m. bus from the temple back to Khandwa bus stand.
The bus stand is also close to the station. The next day we left for Ujjain by a direct train which reached Ujjain in the evening. We checked in to the IRCTC Room at Ujjain. The room was good but the toilets were average. We had darshan of Mahakaleshwar in the evening and on the next day, we went for a sight-seeing tour and were back by afternoon. We took the evening train Avantika Exp to reach Mumbai next day in the morning.
