shikhar~ 318 blog postsThere are a lot of halts (total seven) for this train even though it is a Shatabdi and travels only 427 kms. I think it shall only have stoppages at Bokaro Steel City, Dhanbad, Asansol and Durgapur. Muri, Chandrapura, Raniganj should be removed. Also, if feasible, it should be speeded up in RNC-DHN section where it crawls.
Biggest speed boost to this train would be to not to run via CRP-DHN route(Underground fire threat). Raniganj shouldn't be removed else you will find a massive protest the very next day. I agree to the remaining conceptions of yours.
these halts won't be removed so easily. These halts were added due to lobbying by ECL/CIL(owners of Raniganj Coalfields) for Raniganj, Hindalco for Muri and DVC(Chandrapura Thermal Power Station) for Chandrapura.
I fully agree to this idea. Something needs to be done in the RNC - Muri section. Now that this route has a very good amount of Passenger load and freight as well, why not consider making a few Tunnels with new alignments to make the route less winding and also faster.
