Husena Slatewala 26 blog postsI was comparing air fares between metros (Mumbai-Delhi, Kolkata- Delhi, Chennai-Delhi, Bangalore-Delhi etc) and found out that even fares for travel dates of just 1 week in advance right now are almost equal to 2A fares on Rajdhanis and slightly above normal 2A fares. If you book more in advance, you can even get cheaper fares. Given this scenario, why would anyone travel by train (I am not talking about intermediate passengers) when they can fly and save 90% of the time for almost the same fare. Even 3A passengers can pay slightly more and fly. The Indian government should now focus on aviation as much as they do on railways as air travel is the way of the future. Aviation should now be given lot of importance and rules and regulations should be changed such that it favors air travel. Railways is also important, no doubt.

Haha, so because of 2-3 hrs wastage of getting boarding pass, you will endure 20-25 hours of rail travel. Nice! Also, I am not talking about a specific case. You are right in your perspective. I was talking more on a general terms. Air travel has to be given more importance now. Building of railways require huge land area for laying tracks and other infrastructure and manpower for maintenance which is not easy in India and which can take decades. Air travel on the other hand just requires airport land! And as we progress, air travel is getting more and more affordable and efficient!
