If you are determined to reach Munnar in record time and you are traveling in a reasonably good car, it takes about 4 hrs from Ernakulam which is approximately 136 km away. The Ernakulam - Munnar route extends through Thripunithra, Muvattupuzha, Kothamangalam, Neriamangalam, Adimali and Pallivasal.
Distance Chart:
Munnar - Ernakulam (135km) 4 1/2 hours

Once you reach Adimali, Munnar is just 30 kilometers away - but it will take almost an hour to reach. Around 22 kilometers from Adimali, you can start seeing the tea plantations on both sides of the road and a panoramic view of the western ghats. The view is extremely beautiful during the early mornings
Thanks

Dear Sir,
Better to get down in Alwaye(Aluva) which is the closest railway station to Munnar and before Ernakulam also. You will get taxi as well as lot of private buses are running between Alluva & Munnar. It is a direct state Highway ie A.M. road (Aluva-Muunar Road). You can save at least 2 hours..
Best regards
