We all have heard of extension of trains. Let's try and name some trains which have been short terminated and subsequently lost 100 km or more of their run.
For example
Malda town delhi bhiwani farakka express now runs upto delhi...119km short of bhiwani.

17479/17480 TIRUPATI - PURI Express earlier used to run upto HWH as 7479/7480 HWH - TPTY Express.. lost almost 450kms
Grand Trunk Express could have easily lost around 1500km since its original run of Mangalore Peshawar
