180kmph in full load, a Great Shot indeed.
However there is a need to boost the shot further i.e. go beyond 180 kmph to the extent our tracks permit, because MTJ-Palwal is one of the best suitable sections in IRlys for high speeds. Probably our diesel loco cannot go beyond 180kmph. WAP loco can do 200kmph with minor modifications can be tried. It would have been better if Talgo electric loco is used which could have made trials up to 250 kmph possible. If Talgo has not sent locos to India that may be called even on payment so that the actual maximum speed potential of our BG tracks could be measured and certified in this historic trial. open for introduction of 180- 250kmph (the maximum certified speed) SHS trains, which could be operationally possible after construction of DFC. Such SHS certified sections of IRlys, could be used to run SHS trains like Talgo, or HST extended from the dedicated high speed (upto 350kmph) bullet train track.
