1971 तक दरभंगा बहुत बड़ा जिला था, जिसके कारण इस का विभाजन कर समस्तीपुर और मधुबनी बनाया गया। समस्तीपुर से भी रोसड़ा हसनपुर को मिला कर नये जिला और मघुबनी से झंझारपुर के रूप में नये जिला बनाने की सरकार की योजना भी हैं और मांग भी। ऐसे में इन से ज्यादा प्रमुखता मुख्यालय होना रखता है। दरभंगा जिला छोटा हो कर भी घनत्व मे ज्यादा हैं।
Bhai Gorakhpur city ki population approx 7 or 8 Lacs hai or waha se 70 trains orginate hoti hai. GKP se Uttar Pradesh me 13 bade cities hai waha se to itni traine orginate nahi hoti.Isliye population se traine start nahi hoti.
