A very good point raised by you that most of the rly land is extracted by the British from poor peasant of thr country & it came almost free of cost unlike today where you've to compensate 3 times the existing market value of the land to the owner... So a strong reason that IR shouldn't deviate itself from serving the subsidized poor in the country..
Also in this regard I would like to raise a pt by which IR is actually doing social service.. It gives employment to almost 1.3 million(largest aggregate employer of the country) & over time it has changed the rules of recruitment

As the time is less and being a weekend and even Monday/Tuesday being bakrid holiday travellers are compelled to travel at 1.5times base fare in tatkal.but the same may not be when u take 2-3 months down the line in weekdays. Demand I'll be there during weekends and festivals.I have checked Visakhapatnam Hyderabad for 15 days advance booking by air yesterday for a weekday and its rs 1409 for 5 flights throughout various timezones while Duronto 3AC costs 1200 when its base fare.
