So essentially 1 will become 2, 2 becomes 3 and so on.......!! Now people also should not get confused with the same. Railways will have to start getting trains on the new platforms [especially all SRR,TCR bound trains] for people to get used to the new set up & numbers.
I guess new one will be used only for PGTN side trains. So ideally there is less chance of confusion. People who are familiar with PGT, will go as they do previously(since SRR bound trains comes in 2 and 3 and CBE one in 4 and 5. Since 2,3 and 4,5 are in same platform, not an issue). People who are not familiar, will ideally go by checking platform number mentioned in stairs. So even ideally, they wont have problem.
I feel, as a frequent user, the new PF should be used for long distance trains. Bcoz of the access convenience it offers compared to the other four. No need to use foot over bridge or escalator. Getting into and out of the platform will be extremely convenient. More so, let the people enjoy this comfort henceforth, as all along they did not have this facility at their station. Thumbs up my PGT Jn.
There is another disadvantage for long distance trains. Number of shops are nil/less..
Yes.. when I visited PGT on 15-09-16, it was seen that the newly laid platform would be platform 1. Likewise the no of other PF's will change as well.
