friends i have booked a berth in 12721 dakshin exp on 23 oct from secunderabad to nizammuddin in sleeper class current status rac 58 i have opted for vikalp option now in irctc there is remark saying ALT train defined you are likely to get CNF accommodation in ALT train. So exactly what does it mean, also i am worried that if i dont get a berth then it will be a great problem for me.
Vikalp - if a passenger's ticket is not confim in his desired train and if he has used Vikal option then he is liable to get a CNF berth (if Available) in another train of same route which departs after the first train.
In your case you have RAC ticket in 12721. Lets assume your ticket does not get confirm at the time of charting. As you hav opted for vikalp so you will get a CNF berth (if available) in another train that departs within 12 hours after departure of dakshin express.

Let me remind you using vikalp option does not guarantee confirm berth. It purely depends on availability of berths in the alternate train. If no berth is available in any train on the given route then passenger have to travel in the train in which the ticket is booked.
