Train No. 1024 Sahyadri Express from Kolhapur to CSTM.
The train has too many halts and is generally preferred for travel between Kolhapur & Pune only. The other train on this route 1011/1012 Mahalaxmi Express (Kolhapur to CSTM) is generally full.
The passenger who do not book ticket in 1012 (because of high waiting list ) use Private Buses for the journey. To stop these passenger from using the buses and better utilization of this train i will recommend the following changes.
1)

Reduce the number of stoppages.
2) Its schedule should be so altered that it reaches CSTM between 8.00 to 9.00 A.M.
If these changes are made many more passengers will be using this train for the entire route.

Very very difficult for 8 AM or 9 AM. This slot is reserved for local trains - its their peak period, and you cannot have a slow long distance train encroaching their time slot. The train either has to arrive before 6:30 AM or after 11:30 AM. Arriving before 6:30 means it will not be convenient for pune and it will lose Pune passengers for Mumbai passengers.

That is my point. The majority of the passengers on this train are for Pune only while the train is for Mumbai. Since the timing of this train is not suitable for reaching Mumbai and many passengers go to mumbai for some type of office work they use the services of privates buses.
Even if this train reaches Pune around 4.15 A.M. (private buses to pune also reach near about this time so passenger will prefer train out bus) by adjusting the time and reducing the number of stoppages and accordingly reach Mumbai you can retain your Pune passengers while the passengers who use private bus for there journey because of non-availability of ticket in 1012 Mahalaxmi Express will also get diverted

to this Train thereby increasing your revenue. Thanks for giving a ear to my thought.

This means this train has to arrive in Mumbai at 8 AM, which is just not possible. Only local trains and Pune intercity trains have priority in this slot. No other long distance express train will be allowed to come into Mumbai at this time.

I understand you difficulty Sir. I just wanted to convey mine and my friends way of thinking regarding this train. I think Mumbai CST time UPTO 9.30 A.M. (max) will definitely improve your revenue.
I hope if something is possible you will definitely give a second thought to our demands. Thanks for your reply.

If this happens and if it is required to reschedule some fast local trains for Sahyadri exp, then the ppl can also burn this train, and start blockages. The loss is much more than trying to get some few more rupees for Indian Railways.
