I booked a ticket which had PQWL/AVAILABLE ... After booking I was expecting to get PQWL1 ... but I got Status as PQWL , Current Status as CNF and Berth No. as 29 ... What does this mean ?

If there is PQWL30/PQWL1 in the status. Then it will be PQWL 1 waiting in new ticket. If there is PQWL30/Available then it will give current status same only as confirm after booking another ticket.

How you expected PQWL1 in ticket when status was very clear as PQWL/AVBL ?
PQ is pooled quota, And due to cancellations the WL came back in AVBL and you know this quota have no RAC.
So you got CNF ticket.
Not that there was increase in quota as Quota are fixed unless altered by coach addition or quota reshuffle.
