Re# 2064020-7
I see that you are still misinterpreting my explanation. Our rails DO NOT fail for 5-10 degree changes. How often have we seen operation -affecting rail fractures in IR? How many cases of fractures come out of the NWR which passes through some of the hottest desert regions in IR? How many rail-fracture related interruptions have occurred in the coastal regions where the rails are constantly exposed to the corrosive sea winds ( which by the way are more problematic than temperature variations)? Nothing more than the normal expected rate of failures ( taking into consideration the maintenance frequency and standards).
Our rail manufacturing plants are supported by other countries. Most of our manufacturing industry has been helped

by other countries in setting up the factories and initial technology transfers. Our rails are not of sub-standard quality.
It has been proven that our rails are of good quality. Mr. Lalu prasad managed to engineer a huge turn-around for IR because of this fact ( along with other reasons). Tracks that were designed to handle 20-22 ton axle loads were used to run freights at 22-25 ton axle loads, but there were no major rail failure related accidents in that period. All the zones reported higher rate of wear and tear and higher equipment replacement frequency, but no major dangers. It is easy to believe that our manufacturing industry is sub-standard, but engineering manufacturing has come a long way. There is nothing lacking in the technology or knowledge we possess. More often than not, the problems arise due to administrative lapses and corruption because of which, we cannot produce top quality products in the required amounts.
