But you have to also consider that Vijayawada and Hubli are the second largest cities in their respective states. There will be a large passenger traffic for practically every train that passes through these stations. So, the extra time is justified for all the trains that pass through here. GTL too is very important railway-wise, but the town is much smaller than BZA or UBL and cannot provide as much passenger traffic.
Some important trains should definitely be diverted via GTL to provide better connectivity, but there is no need to completely divert each and every train via GTL. Some of these trains originate at Bangalore, and for them taking the shorter route via GY-Pendekallu is
