Why not railway re-cyle. I am rahul from singrauli, on the way to patna i saw tonnes of old tracks, iron fish plates ,iron sleepers besides the station and at side of tracks between sgrl to ghd. They all are getting rusted in open, also if not recyle these old tracks can be used as electric poles for transmission of electricity. I am too sure this problem exists all over india.
yearly they put auction as per railway rules and used for recycle/or for const works of buildings/cranes and other works,
normally the rails cannot be recycles as imported from japan and we dont hav techology to melt them.
some times it is cheap to leave them there than to load and transport to yards
