Some years ago I read on IRI or some website the explanation for why Kadapa was called HX. The author said that the Kadapa during the British time was called Cuddapah. The last letter was H. Some railway official who may have been giving codes to stations might have seen the 'X' marked on the map to denote a railway station next to the name Cuddapah might have just used the H and X and come up with HX. Don't know if its true but was an interesting explanation...
