I strongly agree, Yeswantpur is quite empty at that time too plus patronage would also increase
I myself wouldn't take this train to Pune because of KR Puram, had it been at Yeswantpur I would've definitely taken it, instead I'll take Karnataka Sampark Kranti

Reaching KSR Bengaluru City Railway Station and Yeswantpur station is easy early in the morning compared to KR Puram and Banaswadi.
That too I come from Mysuru so taking an early morning train that too from KR Puram is impossible

For 14715 Ganganagar-Tiruchi arrival at YPR would be around 5AM, YPR is relatively free. But the problem comes with the reverse train, it would reach YPR around 10-11AM when its completely busy. That must have been the reason for their decision :(
They could divert the return train also easily, I have observed the station myself.
The only problem is Shunting time taken for terminating trains, I have waited for my train, Basava express till 11:30 at Yeswantpur for Mysuru. I came by Duronto from Bhopal, my Duronto arrived at 8:15 and it wasn't shunted till 11:15 that too for Gorakhpur Express. For 3 hours it occupied the platform. How could anyone expect that station to be free ? I have travelled in Karnataka Sampark Kranti to Pune 11 times and 8 times it was shunted after 2:15 pm, while the station was quite empty at the scheduled departure time.
