There are quiet a lot of trains which are a headache for NCR now a then ways..example Swatantra senani vikramshila bhagalpur garibrath or Magadh express even at times..They are always late and some of them are like ovrtaken quiet a lot..
So y cnt they b diverted via Lucknow route just to remove congestion there on NDLS-HWH route..

Crawler exist which even with non trunk route, keep on adding delays (MLDT-ANVT/Sealdah-DLI, Neelanchal, Poorabiya, Sadbhawna etc), which m quite sure u gonna avoid at any particular day to travel!! Safe traveler can anyday book berth in empty non-trunk route trains as mentioned & still would feel astonished!!
U didnt mentioned varanasi but keep repeating Phaphamau, to reason better known to urself while i could judge that via Phaphamau is neither approachable via ALD wthout LR nor BSB via zig-zag trail!!
