Though the major part of this route is under construction and under gauge conversion, this international train will be very useful for fast connecting Tripura,Northeast India to eastern metropolis Kolkata. This train will run crossing Bangladesh dividing it into north and south and will greatly reduce the travel time and distance from almost 1600 km to 440 km, avoiding a huge inverse U turn through Malda-New Jalpaiguri-Guwahati-Lumding-Badarpur-Karimganj.
