I agree... the 1st train of India was supposed to be run on ER's Howrah - Bandel section but the rolling stock shipment sank in the sea waters during transit to India. Hence, the Bombay (Now Mumbai) - Thana (Now Thane) Route was chosen and the ER route became the 2nd one :)
