Capacity augmentation of Mumbai Suburban is extremely difficult which costs inordinately high with restpect to time & money due to:
- Ultimate scarcity & extremely high cost of land
- Ultimate running traffic on tracks (a train every 3-4 Minute on a track)

Negligible maintenance/block time as Suburban services operate almost through out the day hardly leaving a few early morning hours
- Densely populated locality with high rise buildings make a even a very small piece land acquisition almost an impossible task
- Due to above, removal or shifting of infringements like small building, signalling panels etc become extremely difficult & time taking.
It would be interesting to see the difference if a person like Mr. E Sreedharan is made in-charge of all the Mumbai Projects.
