Agree and railways/Swr should relax ghat constraints and allow few more pax trains. There is no connectivity from Mangaluru to hinterland of KA.
land levelling is done till yellapura, thats great!!! alnavar-ambewadi line is already there but wonder when any passenger train will start on that section...
IR announced in 2014, Initially plan was to use the rakes of Sur-Dwr Passenger train for this, still yet to start.
Yes, they should use the present lines across the Western Ghats Hassan-MAJN and MAO-Londa efficiently. Definitely there is need for trains from Mangaluru to other cities of Karnataka, but those 2 lines can be used first than constructing a new line.
This new line was actually sanctioned when mining business was at peek and existing lines were insufficient for freights. But now as there is mining ban state-wise, existing lines are in desert look. SWR should re-think on ghat policy to allow few more pax trains.
