Let me explain this way:
Haridwar being shown on the "slip route" indicates that not all coaches in the train go to Haridwar.
When the train from Allahabad reaches Aligarh Jn., the "slip source," the coaches bound for Dehradun are separated from the main body to form the Link Express, while the rest of the train moves on to Meerut City --- the Dehradun coaches "slip" off the train at Aligarh Jn. It is only these "slip coaches" that pass through Haridwar.
