What is the procedure followed for auto upgradation. I have 3 tickets in 3rd ac of hwh - hwh duronto express . I have opted for auto upgradation. can it be possible that out of three one or two goes for upgradation.

All passengers in one PNR (maximum 6) will be upgraded together or none of them will be upgraded in case of non-availability of enough berths for upgradation.

i have got upgraded with a conform ticket in Bangalore Rajdhani.. i was having a conformed ticket. When i occupied my seat another person came and told me it is his seat. When we enquired the matter with TTE, he told me that my ticket has been upgraded to AC First
Accept the fact man.. It happens due to small computer errors... Once my wife have got ac 3 tier and myself in Sleeper. Later upon talking with TTE,my wife was permitted to travel with me in Sleeper. Happened in Kalka express from new Delhi

If error than can not be sited as Rule in practice.
As per rule a PNR gets Upgrade by system not passenger.

I have a tendency of checking the reservation chart before start of the train. in my case i was shocked to see that my name was no there in the chart against bert no 21 in 2A. I thought i boarded the worng compartment.
then I went to last of the chart and found that It has been upgraded to 1A.
