This is reg the monsoon timings in Konkan route. I do not understand what purpose this serves. Due to this scheduled late running of trains on this route, what is happening on most of the occasions is the trains are stopped at all unscheduled places for a long time with the purpose of sticking to the schedule.
Can't this be done away with? A total of 4-6 hours is lost during the whole trip.

safetly is prime for KR. In the past many accidents took place due to landslides on the tracks. Hence it is needed to regulate during this season.

Trains actually run slower in monsoon time. They dont run with normal speed during normal time. Many times i have seen that the station master actually delivers the caution note to the loco pilot and takes his signature on the acknowledgement that he wont drive beyond 75 KM PH. This precaution is required because due to heavy rains, at many places rocks are heavy due to water and they may collapse if the rain vibrations are high.

During monsoon time running of train speed is restricted to 75 to 90 kmph . In case of heavy rain and impaired visibility; drivers have been instructed to observe 40 kmph speed. Also drivers have been instructed to increase the speed up to allowable limits in certain stretches if the rains are less and/or clear visibilty. So the loco pilots have the liberty to increase the speed and may be doing so which cause the train to reach certin stations before time during monsoon time and hence it may be held at that particular station or at intermediate station to adjust with the timings.
