Is there a way to book train tickets from abroad thru international credit/debit cards (mastercard/amex/visa)
I have tried makemytrip.com, and yatra.com both of which dont accept international credit/debit cards.
IRCTC website claims to accept amex cards but my transaction continuously failed to go through.

There was some chat about this a few weeks ago on IndiaMike. I just had a quick look but couldn't find the thread. It happened just as the ARP 90 days rolled over into 2012 and people were reporting that they aould not make bookings for after 31st December.
It got fixed very quickly as I recall.

With internet bookings I presume you mean IRCTC website with an amex card issued abroad. I did try three times but the transaction did not go through. I even checked with my bank to see if there was an authorization attempt, cuz sometimes overseas transactions are flagged off as suspect. Bank confirmed no transactions attempted. So I reckon, its something to do with the payment gateways or IRCTC not accepting overseas cards
IRCTC has stopped accepting all foreign cards wef. Sept 01, 2011.
my amex is issued from india - may be thats why its going thru.
Any news on the reply from Cleartrip?
IRCTC still does not accept any int. cards. This is simply paranoid behaviour on their side especially during the money making season from frogien tourists, NRI's visiting India in DEC-JAN...
