Recently, I happened to travel in 2AC from Visakhapatnam to Nizamuddin. Two persons entered at Rajahmundry and sitting opposite to my berth. The TTE came and verified the pass. The pass holder showed the pass. Then the TTE asked, where are the other passengers? The pass holder laughed and told that they are not coming, you can allocate the berths to others. The TTE face is glittering. Some times, he makes profit too. He ticked the pass and allocated the berths to some one. Later, when I asked the pass holder, why did not you cancel the reservation for the untraveled passengers? He cooly replied that he can choose his favourable berth if he keeps entire reservation is live. He further said, he will not gain or loose, in case he cancels/keeps also.

even i have seen people like this. they were 4 in a family (father, mother and two sons) and all were thus eligible for the pass. even though only the parents were to travel, then booked 4 tickets and after getting on the train took two lower berths and surrendered the other two berths. they said they did it coz they wanted to make sure they get lower berths. i found it absolutely disgraceful
Not fair, already 2AC has less berths. By blocking berths, they are causing inconvenience to others. There are passengers who are in WL. They are in anxiety as to whether their berths would be confrmed or not. At least if pass holders cancel their unutilised berths before, it would be helpful to others.
I can understand, with in few minutes two persons reacted such mischeif. Do you agree that the sugestion I made is correct ?
its not about cancellation. they knew from the very beginning that only two will be travelling. Yet they booked all 4 berths as they are eligible for max 4 berths. That was to make sure they get the lower berths. However I hope these are exceptions and not the norm. I hope....

Once i was travelling from Mau-NDLS in 2A & the journey was planned just in morning, so have taken local ticket & get the difference made.The TTE was shamelessly watching my face for some kinda bribe, i wanted to feel tension free, so handled him Rs. 100.
When i was puffing cigarette on gate, he came n said, sir 3A walo ne 200 diya aur apne 100, ,,i replied unse jyaada loge to kahi to balance karna padega na, ,,
