When we book tickets online, we get PNR no to our registered mobile as SMS. Does railways accept this SMS as ticket? Pls clarify.
No,No such directions from IRCTC...if u show only that SMS to the TTE,you'll be treated as Without ticket & dealt as per existing Railway Rules.

ERS/VRM along with any one of the eight prescribed ID proofs in original and the indication of the passenger(s)' name(s) in the Reservation Chart will authorize the passenger to travel.
VRM combined with valid photo-id in original...

Pls visit IRCTC home page. It is mentioned as 'Travel without printouts of E-tickets'. But my question is do we need to show PDF of ticket or is SMS enough.
Passengers travelling without printout of eticket will be charged Rs.50 extra and they will not be treated as ticketless passengers.
