The Confederation of All India Rail Users' Associations has submitted a memorandum to Union Minister for Railways Dinesh Trivedi listing demands of rail users for consideration in the forthcoming Railway Budget. The major demands include new passenger trains and development of basic facilities.The association has demanded that all the new trains announced in the last railway budget be made operational soon. Filling of vacancies of loco pilots and in Railway Protection Force, completion of doubling of line and electrification of Nagercoil-Mangalore route, more compartments for in-demand trains, more ticket counters, more cleaning workers, availability of pure water on trains, and extension of roofs to cover full platforms are some of the demands. It has also sought execution of all projects announced in earlier budgets such as Palakkad coach factory, Nemom coach maintenance unit, Alappuzha wagon factory, upgrade of Kozhikode, Ernakulam and Thiruvananthapuram railway stations to international standards, and setting up of...
