HariprasadUnnikrishnan~ 1037 blog postsWith the completion of the 3rd pit-line which is of 1Km length & which can handle 24-coach rake, 8 new trains could be introduced from Ernakulam to Popular destinations like Hyderabad (Via SBC), Mumbai, Howrah,Pudhucherry, Velankanni (Via QLN, SCT) on a weekly basis & to Rameswaram (Via PGTN,POY), Velankanni (Via ED) can be made daily. There were suggestion from PGT divn to construct pitline at Kannur. But, it was turned down. Also, Palakkad Town Rly Stn have enough land to construct pitlines which could be explored. TVC/PGT have to depend on pitlines at NCJ & MAQ for starting new services which is resulting in local protests. Ernakulam Marshalling Yard has got 110 acres of Rly land which is enough for construction of 15 Platforms, 6 pitlines & 10 Stabling Lines.

Introduction of pitline is needed for new trains, but at the same time, the rlwy lines is also matters......
At present, can the rlwy lines in KL can run some more trains???
Ers - Srr route is already saturated and i think another train in this section is difficult......

Of course..Why not? I think once the maintenance & track replacement activities under TVC divn gets over, at least the MPS could be improved in some stretches. Although this line is saturated, the lethargic attitude of TVC divn authorities especially from their top brass is creating more obstacles in the introduction of new trains rather than the former. Also, the TVC divisional authorities should be more proactive in getting things done with close coordination with their counterparts (especially PGT, MDU, SA & TPJ). Lets see..
