I do agree about your point of irrelevant comparison , but you have to agree kanpur wastes most of its potential & resources (skilled manpower , excellent connectivity, political capability, water , river, fertile plains, easy transportation , center of the country)....
It's not about Kanpurian people who does.. government karti hein.. and i think kanpur has already fulfilled with many industries jisse itna rapid and irregular urbanization ho raha hai.
you are right , you got the point , this irregular thing defines uttar pradesh , hope this stops
