We all know that trains delay in India, they delay a lot. Huge delays like 5-6 hrs have become regular now a days. See attached sample. Now I am not going to the facts like reasons, responsible zones, remedy etc., But I am trying to find how we react to train delays.
It's an irony of fact, but I feel we have somehow become habituated to train delays, as if we have accepted the fact. We talk about legendary punctuality of Japanese trains and admit that it is never going to

happen in our country. So let's try to find out how our patience have 'improved' (pun intended 😉). Sooo....
**Question: Up to how much delay you are okay with for a M/E or SF or Passenger trains (Including ACSF or SK etc) which has a journey time of more than 18Hrs as per TT?
** Note: Before you vote, please keep following facts in mind:
1) Only consider M/E or SF or Passenger/ FP trains, for premiums trains there will be separate polls
2) Journey time is more than 18Hrs as per TT, for other slots there will be separate polls
3) Consider a normal operational day only, dont consider special situations like fog, loco failure, rail roco, accident/ freight derailment etc.
4) This is a pure psychological and kind of funny poll to judge our patience, not to justify delays; it's always desirable that trains will run in time.
** If you are reading this line after covering the entire above section, then you have outstanding patience and you can tolerate even a delay of 24 Hrs ☺☺
Thanks for voting.

Well, if you ask me that a late running train ruins my holiday plans, I'd probably negate your statement. In fact, the more (time) I am inside a train, the more I enjoy the part of my holiday/tour. This is totally my opinion and may or may not be similar to those of others'.

People take trains in order to reach a destination. In that destination, they might have various kinds of work waiting for them like office work, seminar work, exam etc. Also, that destination might be a touring destination for many travelers and so they have all sorts of plans in place regarding where they will go on what day etc. Now, consider that a train is supposed to reach a destination in the morning. The office, seminar and exam passengers all have plans to complete their work by evening and then return. However, the train arrives 5+ hours late. By that time, the exam guys might have already missed their exam, the seminar people might have to get their session postponed and resulting in further return delays and the office guys will lose some reputation in punctuality. An example of this is when Mithila Express arrived at Howrah 6+ hours late...

during the WBJEE exam and many students missed the opportunity. The same goes for travelling passengers as well. Any sort of delay will not only hamper their schedule but will also lead to unnecessary loss in money.
So my point is, any amount of delay is unacceptable. If it happens due to unavoidable circumstances then nothing can be done but unnecessarily or for silly reasons, a train should not be delayed. Even if I am returning home, why should I sit on a train for 2-3 hours more?
