PUNE-SC shatabdi take just 8:30 hrs for the journey with 6 stops for its 596 km journey and is the fastest train on the route. To maintain its aggressive time schedule EMD is given to this train in spite of just 13 EoG type coaches.
It's possible to maintain the schedule with an Alco since the load is very light. Also EMD is roughly better than 3D for initial acceleration.
