Hello there, I have a basic question regarding reservation. Please help. If I book a ticket from Mysore to Chennai (which goes via Bangalore) and board the train at Bangalore, will my ticket/seat be valid still?

yes, you understood my Q correctly. See, point is that there are no ticket availability for Bangalore to Chennai. And so I checked the availability from Mysore-Bangalore-Chennai and it is available. So, I was wondering if I book the ticket from Mysore and board train at Bangalore, then I can still travel to Chennai by train. But I was not sure if seat would be still available or given away (by TTE) to someone else like you mentioned. So, that is why I am checking.
It would have been nice to have a blocked seat rather than having TTE to give away the seat to someone else. Maybe Railways should introduce this option!
