Indian Railways has also inducted the Points & Crossing Tamping Machine (UNIMAT-4S) for track geometry correction of turnouts. This will ensure safe movements of trains over turnouts and improved riding quality in yards.
Indian Railways is having a fleet of 870 Track Maintenance Machines as on 31.03.2018. Thirteen number of track machines (costing around Rs. 194.5) have been added up to June during current year. Further five track mchines costing Rs 119 crores are being added in the maintenance fleet.
