I doubt if this train can ever reach MGS in time. Officially, it has been provided a time lesser than Rajdhani to cover this distance. It can not leave Gaya before the scheduled departure and since it is not in the elite category of Duronto or Rajdhani, it will never have a clear route ahead most of the times.
Also, the crucial part for this train to travel with punctuality is about its journey from MGS to LKO. Three routes exist and none of them is a double track all through so if one train comes from the other side, then it has to be stopped. IR must [yes it must] connect the so called popular and big cities Lucknow and Varanasi

by at least one double track [preferably via Sultanpur]

Dear Vinay ... with no offenses meant to anybody ... Howrah Rajdhani has been given 2:11 mins to cover GAYA to MGS and Sealdah Rajdhani has been given 2:16 mins while 2277 has been given 2:09 mins to cover the same distance.
Regarding your point that it will reach MGS in time ... well ... I have the data from the recent trips it took to ASR ... on 1st May ... it departed from KOAA in time ... but reached MGS at 00:26 [3:30 hrs late] and on 4th of May it reached MGS at 22:42 [again about 2 hrs late]. As far covering up the time is concerned ... there you are close to being right .... for ..

the km run is pretty high [300 km] between MGS - LKO and LKO - MB. But then ... the probability of it making time is like 50%. Good .. but can be better.
It is nice interacting on this forum.

Sir,
I have mentioned u to kindly check out the run from KOAA to ASR!!!!!
If u track trains in intermdiate station not so far apart, u will find them either right time or either late (one @ a time) constantly!!!!!
This train departs mostly late from KOAA & so is late @ MGS.

with competitive run can be late for 10-15 minutes, but if its late 3-4 hrs, then there must be late departure, either because of late ARR or RSA arrangement.
Again, the train is meant totally for KOAA & ASR people, wo are getting service not more thn 1-1.5 hrs late!!!!

Yes ... I had checked ... and am checking the runs from KOAA to ASR only ... on every departure basis and .... being a resident of Kolkata [these days] and also an assiduous reader of trainenquiry.com .... this train has departed from KOAA "ON TIME" in its last 5 trips ... and never ... believe me ... never reached MGS in time.
The only positive for giving it lesser time to travel between GAYA and MGS is had it been given more time ... it would not have departed before scheduled time [in that scenario of a relaxed time] which could have affected its chances of making up time.
