What a coupling can do when 'wheel' derails ?
If derailed at high speed then certainly coupling plays a vital role prevents damage to coaches by reducing chances of collision and climbing.
But a coupling can not avert derailment.

Hmm...but i think coupling can prevent rest of coaches from derailing ...And derailment will not take any lives...at the most there can be some minor injuries ...people lose their lives only when coaches topple and climb over each other...hence lhb should be introduced in each train...
Unfortunately accidents are sad part of life but as you can see preventive measures are already on but in case of high speed derailment we can pray God only for every ones KushalMangal.
