IRI is the only site that independently derives rail kms. based on GPS coordinates of routes. The govt. site and all other sites and publications base their kms on the one Govt. source. Any error in this one source is perpetuated by all sites and publications that depend on it.
There is a 20km difference in the Goalpara sector between IRI and the Govt. kms. This site has verified the route, and it appears that the kms. shown here are correct. However, it is possible that we have not accounted for some hidden factors, and we are wrong.

do not automatically assume that any divergence with the Govt. kms is wrong.
IRI is also wrong on many occasions. The GPS kms. don't account for hilly terrains. A steep slope may result in incorrect calculations on this site. However, we are still unable to explain the large 20 kms. difference.
Unless there is something wrong with the route of Saraighat Express shown in the Atlas, this site will continue to stick to our version for now.
