To clear the extra rush of passengers during the peak festive seasons, the Railways run SPECIAL trains in between various stations all over the country. While quite a few of them generally run empty due to poor punctuality, reliability and promotion, a few of them gains extremely good patronage. Infact, sometimes a few SPECIAL trains have been promoted to Regular service due to good response.

Puri is one such route, where most of the SPECIAL trains receive good patronage during peak season. As you can see in the video, both ECoR and SER decided to run their own DIWALI SPECIAL trains on the mentioned route, running back to back with a gap of only 1 hour and maintaining the same running hours.
First, the 08038 Puri (PURI)- Santragachi (SRC) A.C. SPECIAL accelerates past Ghoraghata with 31379 AJNI WAG- 9H in lead. The train belonged to SER, and had no RSA. It was run with the spare coaches of other LHB trains.
Second in the list was the 08403 Puri (PURI)- Santragachi (SRC) SPECIAL, which speeded past Ghoraghata with an oldie 23213 TATANAGAR WAG- 5A (P) (Ex. BKSC) in lead. The train belonged to ECoR, and had RSA with 22859/ 22860 Puri (PURI)- Chennai Central (MAS) Weekly Superfast.
